Former defender Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal would be closer to winning the title if Mikel Arteta had used Ethan Nwaneri in the absence of Martin Odegaard.
The Gunners were dealt a blow when Odegaard suffer an ankle injury and was rule out for almost two months. In that time, the team have lost two, drawn two and won just three of their seven games without the Norwegian international, two of which they have lost this season.

“Arsenal could have been closer to the league title and closer to Liverpool if the manager had play Nwaneri when Odegaard was injury,” Rio told his YouTube channel. “What he’s doing… he’s improving the defence, he’s improving the team. I think if he (Nwaneri) had play, the team would have got more points.”
“It’s easy to say that when you look back, but I said it then: Play him and see what happens. What could be worse? Because then you’re running without direction and you’re not getting the results you want. Play him! Odegaard’s not in the team!”
